Carl joined DSS as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2002, and is the executive management team member in charge of the Data Center. Carl is also responsible for the Human Resource, Finance and Process Improvement departments.
Before joining DSS, Carl was Vice President of Information Services at Carpenter Technology Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company headquartered in Reading, PA. In that role, he transformed the company’s view of information services from “overhead cost” to “value added service provider.” He led process initiatives to reduce cost and improve service quality. And, he traveled to India and Taiwan to integrate new business acquisitions. He was a member of the executive team and made certain that Carpenter’s information technology strategy supported business unit strategies.
Carl is active in the community serving on committees with Berks Economic Partnership, and Wall Street West.
He holds a Bachelors degree from Elizabethtown College and a Masters of Business Administration from Lehigh University. He and his wife live in Sinking Spring and have 3 children.
Lew began his experience with high availably systems as a technician in the United States Air Force where he was responsible for the dual systems of an Air Defense Command radar installation.
His IBM career started as a Customer Engineer where his letter of welcome was signed by Tom Watson, Jr. He was elected class president of his Customer Engineering class and shortly after was assigned to main frame systems and later operating systems program support.
His final years at IBM were as a Systems Engineer where he served as project manager and systems support for early installations of multi processor MVS and VM systems. In addition, he provided IBM systems support of IMS, CICS, TCAM, TSO and other critical systems.
He is a graduate of the IBM Systems Research Institute, was elected to nine Systems Engineering Symposia and was a Director of the 1975 Symposium.
Lew left IBM to co-found a small retail jewelry chain where he developed PC-based retail systems and became a Graduate Gemologist.
He is an instrument rated commercial pilot, has raced sail boats off shore, serves as a photographer on international medical missions (Peru, El Salvador and most recently Nepal) and rides a spirited horse named Set Em Up Cowboy.
Lew has been the Director of the DSS Hosting data center since May 2006.
Scott Kantner is the Chief Technical Officer at DSS with expertise in IT infrastructure design and software engineering. He is one of the company’s founding employees, establishing corporate vision and selecting the technology that DSS delivers to its clients.
Scott is an extremely knowledgeable IT consultant with over 20 years experience. He is TOGAF Certified (The Open Group Architecture Framework) and an IBM Certified Infrastructure Systems Architect. Scott is responsible for DSS’s internal architecture, developing DSS’s customer infrastructure solutions, and working with customers to develop IT infrastructure solutions aligned with their business requirements. Scott’s experience spans multiple industry sectors including banking, financial, manufacturing, energy and retail.
Scott worked in the DSS data center back when it was the data center for Meridian Bank. He was the team lead on the initial DSS build of the data center, and is in charge of the technical design of all data center client projects.
Scott holds a Bachelors degree in Computing & Information Sciences from Lehigh University. He is active in his church. Scott and his wife reside in Hamburg, PA, and have three children.
Ann Borza joined DSS in 1997 and is responsible for the entire Services Business Unit, which includes all project based services provided by DSS consultants and engineers as well as the Managed Service Center. Members of her team focuses on Lotus Collaboration, IT Staffing, Cisco Networking, Server and Storage Management and Virtualization, as well as Systems Services and PC Rollout functions. The Managed Service Center is our Help Desk service for clients’ end users.
Ann has presented at both DSS seminars and industry conferences on topics such as enhancing IT service delivery. She has over 15 years experience in the technology industry and began her career as an IBM Account Representative in Reading, PA.
Prior to joining DSS, Ann held leadership positions in marketing and development with the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital and the Reading Symphony Orchestra.
Ann holds a Bachelors degree from Juniata College. She and her husband reside in the Lancaster area, PA and have two children.
